Tetouan (Amazigh: deformation of Portuguese origin of the word Amazigh ⵜⵉⵟⵟⴰⵡⵏ /
tiṭṭawn / plural ⵜⵉⵟⵟ / Titt / = eye) is the capital and cultural center
of the region of Tangiers in northern Morocco, the Western Rif; it is considered the most Andalusian city of the kingdom.
The city is located near Ceuta in the Country of Jebala about 60 kilometers east of the city of Tangier and near the Gibraltar Strait. It is located in a valley (the gorge of Tetouan) dug by the wadi Mhannech in the mountains of limestone Rif chain north and south. Near Tetouan, there are several popular tourist and coastal cities like M'diq Martil, and holiday villages like Marina Smir and Cabo Negro. Bilal is the mayor of the province since 2013
